S E L U L I T
Abstract
Selulit adalah suatu kelainan kulit kompleks yang terlokalisir akibat adanya herniasi lemak subkutan ke lapisan dermis yang mengakibatkan kerusakan jaringan ikat di bawah kulit sehingga tampak sepeti kulit jeruk (orange peel). Selulit dijumpai sekitar 80-90% pada wanita paska pubertas. Hal ini terkait peranan hormon esterogen dalam lipogenesis. Etiologi pasti yang menyebabkan selulit tidak diketahui, namun banyak teori yang muncul seperti genetik, gender, ras, diet yang tidak baik dan kurangnya olahraga. Terdapat beragam teori mengenai patogenesis selulit sehingga sulit untuk menentukannya seperti, genetik, pengaruh hormonal, sistem mikrosirkulasi dan limfatik, matriks ekstraselular, kelebihan lemak subkutan yang menonjol ke lapisan dermis dan arsitektur septum. Terapi selulit meliputi pencegahan melalui diet dan olahraga. Keberhasilan terapi bergantung pada sinergisme antara terapi topikal dan oral.
