Abstract

The use of the Qur'an literacy method today is the right effort to increase students' abilities and interests in learning, as well as train students' skills in reading, listening , write and speak. With this literacy method, students are expected to be able to learn and study knowledge independently from books and other sources of knowledge. However, in reality, literacy of written sources such as the Qur'an and books is starting to be rarely sought after by teenagers today. Teenagers nowadays prefer to access gadgets to get practical information, so that written literacy activities are currently starting to be abandoned. SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan is one of the educational institutions that applies the literacy method to read the Qur'an before learning activities begin. It aims to reduce the number of delinquency in students by familiarizing students with reading the Qur'an and increasing the ability and interest of students in reading the Qur'an, this program is expected to shape the Islamic character of students. Therefore, the researcher chose the title of Effectiveness of Using Al-Qur'an Literacy Method as an effort to improve students' ability and interest in reading the Qur'an at SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan. The purpose of this study is to describe the use of Al-Qur'an literacy in SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan, describe the supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of the Al-Qur'an literacy method at SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan and describe the effectiveness of the implementation of the Al-Qur'an literacy method. as an effort to improve the abilities and interests of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 57 Medan. This research is a qualitative research with the type of case study research, using data analysis methods.
