Political Communication Strategy Of Muhammadiyah In The 2020 Bengkulu Governor And Vice Governor Election

Abstract


The 2020 Bengkulu Province Regional Head General Election (Pemilukada) was attended by three candidates for Governor and Vice Governor, including the number one pair Helmi Hasan and Muslihan, the number two pair Rohidin Mersyah and Rosjonsyah, and the number three pair Agusrin M Najamudin and Imron Rosyadi. These three pairs of candidates both have experience in managing the government. The 2020 Bengkulu Provincial Election was won by pair number two Rohidin Mersyah and Rosjonsyah, who currently still serves as Chairman of the Cadre Education Assembly of the Muhammadiyah Bengkulu Regional Leadership with 41.20% of the valid ballots. This research wants to analyze the role of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu in the 2020 Bengkulu regional election and the political communication strategy used by the Muhammadiyah Bengkulu Regional Leadership in socializing and winning its cadres in the 2020 Bengkulu Governor election. The theoretical basis used is the conceptualization of political communication strategies, persuasive communication and Khittah Politik Muhammadiyah. This research uses a qualitative approach of case study research type. This research shows the results that the role of Muhammadiyah in the Bengkulu Regional Head Election in 2020 prioritizes value politics, looks for the best figure profile and Muhammadiyah provides political value signs that are in accordance with Islamic political ideals, both persuasive political communication strategies of the Muhammadiyah Bengkulu Regional Leadership to gain public sympathy and choices, especially Muhammadiyah citizens, namely by taking care of; character, strengthening institutions, using face-to-face methods and implementing the spirit of Al-Ma'un in national political strategies in the Bengkulu region.
