Islam In Modern Discourse

Abstract

Islam is a mercy to all nature that has universal values concerning all human beings. Islam is always required to undergo changes in insight by its adherents. From the 18th century to the early 19th century the revival of the renewal of science in all dimensions of life was turbulent, pushing the ijtihad door of the thinkers opened wide so that the narrowing of Islamic understanding would not occur again, as in previous centuries the dark days of Islam. The urgency of the update from its initial phase until now will always continue. Entering the modern century marked by a remarkable leap in science and technology will increasingly demand that Muslims move quickly to keep pace.

This paper uses the method of observation and wants to reveal about Islamic thoughts by several figures and in accordance with the development of modern times. Islamic values need to be more stared at and need to be appreciated creatively to find their advantages over other religions, so as to allow islam to always make a great contribution to human civilization. Likewise, the advancement of science does not hinder and hinder Islam's coexistence and adaptability. The Qur'an as the main source of Islamic teachings shows evidence of the modern spirit it contains.
