The Role of Islamic Character Education in Developing Digital Citizenship Among Generation Z

Abstract


Islamic character education plays a crucial role in developing digital citizenship among Muslim Generation Z. In this fast-paced digital era, Generation Z faces unique challenges and opportunities, including the rapid and diverse spread of information. Islamic character education, which emphasizes moral and ethical values, can equip young people with the ability to behave wisely and responsibly in the online world. By teaching values such as honesty, tolerance, and empathy, Muslim Generation Z can learn to use technology in a positive and productive manner. Furthermore, Islamic character education encourages active participation in the digital community, including engaging in constructive discussions and disseminating beneficial information. Therefore, the integration of Islamic character education into both formal and non-formal educational curricula is essential for shaping individuals who are not only digitally literate but also possess integrity and social responsibility. This is expected to create a safer and more ethical digital environment for all users.
