PERAN GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM PEMBINAAN KARAKTER SISWA

Abstract


This study discusses the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping students' character in the school environment. PAI teachers have an important task in instilling moral, ethical, and moral values in accordance with Islamic teachings. Challenges such as juvenile delinquency and low enthusiasm for learning make the role of PAI teachers increasingly crucial in shaping students' character. This study was conducted to explore the role of PAI teachers in shaping this character. The method used is a qualitative approach with literature analysis strengthened by interview data from PAI teachers in the field. This study reveals that PAI teachers not only act as teachers, but also as role models, mentors, and inspiration for students. The results of the study highlight the methods and strategies applied by teachers in shaping students' character, as well as the challenges they face. This study provides important insights for educators, policy makers, and education practitioners about the importance of the role of PAI teachers in shaping a young generation with strong character and good ethics. This study is also driven by the problem of moral decline that is increasingly rampant among the younger generation, such as drug abuse, promiscuity, and acts of violence that often become public attention. The purpose of this study is to understand the role of PAI teachers in fostering students' character. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews and observations. The results of the study showed that supporting factors for character building of students include a conducive family and school environment, as well as good communication between teachers and parents of students. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are the lack of awareness of students about the importance of character values and the influence of a negative social environment
