SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PARADIGM IN ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN EDUCATION IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
Abstract
Economic development has undergone a significant paradigm shift, moving from a sole focus on economic growth to a more inclusive and sustainable approach. This study aims to analyze the role of education in supporting sustainable development, particularly in the context of developing countries, from an Islamic perspective. The research method involves a comprehensive literature review, utilizing secondary data sourced from previously published references and studies. This study identifies challenges faced, such as limited infrastructure, the quality of human resources, and unequal access to education. On the other hand, sustainable education offers opportunities to enhance skills, social awareness, and environmental responsibility. The principles of Islam in sustainable development provide a more just and sustainable framework, emphasizing the balance between economic, social, and environmental needs. The findings of this research are expected to offer in-depth insights into the integration of sustainable development paradigms within Islamic education and contribute to the development of more effective and responsive educational policies that address the needs of communities in developing countries.
