Abstract

Islamic religious education has goals that are almost similar to national education objectives, combining both rational and religious intelligence. Teachers are one of the most important factors in improving the quality of education, especially Islamic Religious Education teachers (GPAI), because besides having the role of transferring knowledge, GPAI also has a role in helping the process of moral internalization to students. Additionally, they must have provisions in the form of self-preparation to master various knowledge, skills, and special abilities as basic competencies related to their teaching profession so that they can carry out their duties well and meet the needs and expectations of their students. The competence of Islamic religious teachers is a combination of knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes reflected in their habits of thinking and acting to improve the quality of education, especially Islamic Religious Education teachers (GPAI), because besides having the role of transferring knowledge, GPAI also has a role in helping the process of moral internalization to students. An Islamic religious education teacher is an educator who teaches Islamic teachings and guides students towards achieving maturity and forming Muslim personalities with good character so that there is a balance of happiness in this world and the hereafter.
