Abstract
This article investigates the profound impact of social media on the religious identity of Muslim youth. By exploring how social media platforms shape their perceptions, understanding, and practices of Islam, the article highlights both the opportunities and challenges these digital spaces present. In the current era, where technological advancements and information access are rapidly evolving, social media has emerged as a crucial platform for young individuals to express their views, share experiences, and construct their self-identity, including in the realm of religion.Social media functions not only as a communication tool but also as an educational space where religious values can be learned and reinforced. This study examines the dual role social media plays in either strengthening or transforming Muslim youth's perspectives on religious teachings, while also addressing the complexities arising from the plurality of information and diverse content available online. By employing a qualitative approach, the article delves into the personal experiences of Muslim youth as they engage with various forms of religious content on digital platforms. It further analyzes the long-term implications of these interactions on their religious identity formation. The findings aim to shed light on the strategic role social media plays in shaping the religious understanding and identity of Muslim youth in the contemporary digital landscape. This study aspires to contribute valuable insights for educators, religious leaders, and policymakers to harness the potential of social media in fostering a well-rounded and informed religious identity among Muslim youth.
