ISLAM'S ADAPTATION IN THE TECHNOLOGY REVOLUTION: CONFRONTING A WORLD OF INCREASING DIGITAL MISUSE

Abstract


The swift and transformative advancement of digital technology has fundamentally altered nearly every facet of contemporary life, impacting communication, education, employment, and social interactions. Within this framework, Islam, as a holistic way of life, confronts the challenge of adapting to the digital age while preserving its enduring values. This paper investigates the complex interplay between Islam and the current technological revolution, emphasizing how Islamic teachings can offer direction in navigating both the advantages and potential risks associated with modern digital instruments.As technology progresses, challenges such as digital addiction, misinformation, privacy issues, and cybercrime have surfaced as critical concerns. In this regard, the ethical principles and moral teachings of Islam provide essential insights for alleviating these risks, ensuring that technology is utilized for the betterment of humanity and spiritual development. By analyzing Islamic concepts such as justice (adl), morality (akhlaq), and community (ummah), this paper suggests methods for Muslims to engage with technology in a responsible manner.Furthermore, the research examines the contributions of Islamic institutions, scholars, and communities in fostering a digital culture that resonates with Islamic values, encouraging both innovation and ethical awareness. The paper also highlights the significance of digital literacy, promoting understanding among Muslim communities on how to navigate the intricacies of technology without compromising their faith.
