Determinan Perilaku Keuangan Mahasiswa di Kota Medan

Abstract


Tujuan Penelitian: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis pengaruh pendidikan, lingkungan sosial, dan akses informasi terhadap pengelolaan keuangan mahasiswa.

Metode Penelitian: Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif, Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa di Kota Medan. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode sensus, yaitu dengan menyebar quesoioner di beberapa kampus di kota Medan sebanyak 100 orang. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan SEM – PLS.

Originalitas / Novelty: penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan holistic yakni penggabungan tiga faktor kunci dalam pengelolaan keuangan mahasiswa yakni Pendidikan, lingkungan sosial dan akses Informasi. Penelitian ini menawarkan perspektif yang lebih komprehensip dengan menganalisis interaksi ketiga faktor tersebut.  

Hasil penelitian: Penelitian yang dilakukan menyimpulkan bahwa pendidikan, lingkungan sosial, dan akses informasi memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap pengelolaan keuangan mahasiswa. Hasil analisis mengindikasikan bahwa tingkat pendidikan yang lebih tinggi terkait dengan pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai konsep keuangan, yang pada gilirannya meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam merencanakan dan mengelola anggaran mereka. Selain itu, lingkungan sosial yang mendukung, seperti teman sebaya dan keluarga, berperan penting dalam memotivasi mahasiswa untuk menerapkan praktik keuangan yang baik. Akses informasi yang memadai, baik melalui media digital maupun sumber pendidikan, juga terbukti meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam pengelolaan keuangan.

Implikasi: Penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya perhatian yang lebih besar terhadap pendidikan keuangan bagi mahasiswa. Institusi pendidikan perlu mengintegrasikan kurikulum keuangan dalam program studi mereka untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan siswa.

 

Research Objectives: The objectives of this study are to identify and analyze the influence of education, social environment, and access to information on student financial management.

Research Methods: The approach used in this study is quantitative, The population in this study were all students in Medan City. Sampling using the census method, namely by distributing questionnaires in several campuses in Medan City as many as 100 people. Data analysis was carried out using SEM - PLS.

Originality / Novelty: This study uses a holistic approach, namely the combination of three key factors in student financial management, namely Education, social environment and access to Information. This study offers a more comprehensive perspective by analyzing the interaction of these three factors.

Research Results: The study concluded that education, social environment, and access to information have a significant influence on student financial management. The results of the analysis indicate that a higher level of education is associated with a better understanding of financial concepts, which in turn improves students' ability to plan and manage their budgets. In addition, a supportive social environment, such as peers and family, plays an important role in motivating students to implement good financial practices. Adequate access to information, both through digital media and educational sources, has also been shown to improve students' knowledge and skills in financial management.

Implications: This study highlights the importance of greater attention to financial education for students. Educational institutions need to integrate financial curricula into their study programs to improve students' financial literacy.
