Post-Publication Discussion Policy

Biblio Couns: Jurnal Kajian Konseling dan Pendidikan

Biblio Couns: Jurnal Kajian Konseling dan Pendidikan encourages scholarly discussion and constructive academic engagement concerning articles published in the journal. The journal recognizes that post-publication discussion is an important mechanism for maintaining the accuracy of the scholarly record, strengthening research integrity, and advancing knowledge in guidance and counseling, counseling psychology, and education.

This policy is implemented in accordance with the journal's publication ethics principles and the relevant guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Opportunities for Post-Publication Discussion

Readers, researchers, authors, counselors, educators, and other interested parties are encouraged to submit scholarly comments, questions, critical analyses, or alternative perspectives concerning articles published in Biblio Couns: Jurnal Kajian Konseling dan Pendidikan.

Submissions should be academically relevant, evidence-based, respectful, and directly related to the content, theoretical framework, research methodology, interpretation, findings, or implications of the published article.

Discussions may address issues related to guidance and counseling, counseling interventions, psychological assessment, educational psychology, student development, mental health in educational settings, and other topics within the journal's scope.

2. Submission and Editorial Review

Post-publication comments and discussions may be submitted to the editorial team through the journal's official email address, jbc@umsu.ac.id.

Submissions should include the following information:

  1. The title, author(s), publication year, and relevant publication details of the article being discussed.

  2. A clear and concise explanation of the issue, question, or concern raised.

  3. Supporting evidence, methodological arguments, data, or scholarly references, where appropriate.

  4. The name and institutional affiliation of the contributor, together with relevant disclosures of potential conflicts of interest.

The editorial team will evaluate submissions based on academic relevance, factual accuracy, clarity, originality, supporting evidence, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

The editor may request revisions, consult independent experts, or invite the original author(s) to respond when necessary. The editorial assessment will be conducted fairly and impartially, taking into account the scholarly merit of the submission and its relevance to the published article.

3. Publication of Comments and Responses

The journal may publish accepted comments, critical discussions, and responses from the original author(s), including in the form of letters to the editor or other appropriate scholarly formats.

When a submission raises substantive concerns about research methods, data accuracy, interpretation of findings, conclusions, or ethical aspects of a published article, the editorial team may invite the original author(s) to provide a formal response.

Comments and responses will be evaluated according to the journal's editorial standards. Publication of a comment does not necessarily imply endorsement of the views expressed by the journal.

All published discussions must maintain professional academic standards. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, discriminatory language, unsupported allegations, and inappropriate disclosure of confidential information are not acceptable. Particular care will be taken to protect the privacy and confidentiality of individuals involved in counseling, psychological assessment, and educational research.

The editorial team reserves the right to request revisions or reject submissions that do not meet the journal's academic, editorial, or ethical requirements.

4. Handling Concerns and Research Misconduct

Biblio Couns: Jurnal Kajian Konseling dan Pendidikan takes concerns about the integrity of published research seriously. Allegations involving fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, citation manipulation, or other substantial research irregularities will be assessed in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy and relevant COPE guidance.

The editorial team will initially assess the nature, credibility, and relevance of the concern. Where appropriate, the corresponding author will be invited to provide an explanation and supporting information. Independent experts or the authors' affiliated institutions may be consulted when further investigation is necessary.

Depending on the findings and seriousness of the issue, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Publish a clarification or a letter to the editor.

  • Publish a correction to the article or its associated record.

  • Issue an expression of concern while an investigation is ongoing.

  • Retract the article when the evidence and circumstances warrant retraction.

Any editorial action will be taken in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and applicable scholarly publishing standards. Corrections and retractions will be linked to the original article, where applicable, to maintain transparency and preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Where concerns involve research ethics, informed consent, confidentiality, or the protection of human participants, the editorial team may request relevant documentation or contact the appropriate institution, as necessary.

5. Fairness, Confidentiality, and Editorial Independence

All post-publication concerns will be handled fairly, objectively, and without inappropriate influence from personal relationships, institutional affiliations, professional competition, or other conflicts of interest.

The editorial team will provide relevant parties with a reasonable opportunity to clarify or respond to substantive concerns. Contributors and authors are expected to disclose any relevant conflicts of interest that could affect the assessment or interpretation of the issues raised.

Confidential information obtained during the review or investigation process will be handled responsibly and disclosed only when necessary for the fair resolution of the matter or as required by applicable ethical or legal obligations.

Editorial decisions will be based on academic merit, supporting evidence, research integrity, and the journal's established publication ethics principles.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

Biblio Couns: Jurnal Kajian Konseling dan Pendidikan recognizes authorship as an important academic responsibility that reflects substantial intellectual contributions to the preparation and publication of scholarly work. All individuals listed as authors must have made meaningful contributions to the manuscript and must be accountable for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of the published work.

The journal adopts the following authorship criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Each author must have made a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the study; the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; or the development of the manuscript's theoretical framework and scholarly arguments.

  2. Manuscript Preparation and Revision: Each author must have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: All authors must review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.

  4. Accountability: All authors must agree to be accountable for their respective contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the research.

  5. Corresponding Author: The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office, coordinating communication among co-authors, ensuring that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript, and providing accurate information during the submission and publication process.

  6. Order of Authors: The order of authors must be agreed upon by all authors before submission and should reflect their respective contributions in accordance with accepted academic practices.

  7. Changes in Authorship: Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission must be justified and approved in writing by all authors concerned, including any author being added or removed. Such changes are subject to the approval of the editorial team.

  8. Prohibition of Improper Authorship: Gift authorship, guest authorship, ghost authorship, and other forms of misleading attribution are not permitted. Individuals who have not made a qualifying scholarly contribution must not be listed as authors. Contributions that do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged appropriately with the individual's permission.

  9. Use of Artificial Intelligence: Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scholarly work. Authors who use AI tools in preparing their manuscripts must remain responsible for the content and disclose such use in accordance with the journal's AI policy.

  10. Research and Publication Ethics: All authors must ensure that the manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal. Authors must also comply with applicable research ethics standards, properly acknowledge sources, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and obtain necessary ethical approvals where applicable.
