Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

 

Buletin Farmatera Journal is a journal of scientific publications in the field of health intended for authors and researchers, lecturers, medical students, dental students, nursing and midwifery students, as well as other health science study programs, business actors in the health sector, activists in the health sector. It is published every four months (February, June and October) using a peer review system for the selection of articles in each issue of the publication.  The Buletin Farmatera Journal accepts original research articles relevant to the fields of health, medicine, and basic medical sciences and also receives meta-analysis, case reports, literature reviews, systematic literature reviews, editorials, and letters to editors. Articles can be sent to the editorial board by uploading through the open journal system page of the Buletin Farmatera Journal system, by first registering to open a journal account and continuing by logging in to the journal account that has been created, with the following writing rules:

 

  1. 1.     Research Articles

It is the publication of research results both descriptive and experimental which is directly carried out by the author.

The format of the research article consists of:

- Judul.

- Abstract (Indonesian or English).

- Introduction.

- Method.

- Results.

- Discussion.

- Conclusion.

- Reference.

 

2. Meta-Analysis

It is a review of articles (reviews) on the issue of cutting-edge medical and health sciences on the same topic.

The meta-analysis format consists of:

- Title.

- Abstract (Indonesian or English).

- Introduction.

- Method.

- Results.

- Discussion.

- Conclusion.

- Reference

 

3. Case Report

Articles on cases in the field of medical and health sciences that need to be disseminated.

The case report format consists of:

- Title.

- Abstract (Indonesian or English).

- Introduction.

- Case.

- Discussion.

- Conclusion.

- Reference.

 

4. Literature Review

Articles that review the latest things.

The format used consists of:

- Title.

- Abstract (Indonesian or English).

- Introduction.

- Contents.

- Discussion.

- Conclusion.

- Reference.

 

5.     Systematic Review

Articles that review the latest things, arranged systematically using prism diagrams and tables

The format used consists of:

- Title.

- Abstract (Indonesian or English).

- Introduction.

- Discussion.

- Conclusion.

6.    Editorial

Discusses various medical and health science issues that are hot topics in medical and health circles.

Format used:

7.      Letter to The Editor

A means of communication of readers with editors and other readers that may contain comments, objections or opinions regarding the content of previous Articles of the Buletin Farmatera journal well as proposals for the future.

General Instructions

  • Submissions of manuscripts, required through the open journal system page of the Buletin Farmatera journal, are not allowed via e-mail or other means.
  • The author is required to include the email address and contact number of What Up  in the manuscript of the article.
  • The author lists the form of writing sent whether it is in the form of research articles, meta-analysis, case reports, literature reviews, systematic reviews, editorials, or letters to editors, in the upper right corner of the submitted article.
  • The submitted manuscript contains the original article (not a duplication of another article).
  • The belum manuscript has been published or is being submitted to another journal by signing an author's affidavit.
  • The author must ensure that all auxiliary authors have approved the manuscript of the article created.
  • If it is known that the manuscript of the article submitted is a duplication of another article or has been published in another journal, then the article manuscript will be annulled.
  • All article manuscripts will be discussed by experts in the appropriate scientific field (peer review) and the editorial board.
  • Manuscripts of an article that do not follow the predetermined format and that need to be corrected will be returned to the author.
  • The manuscript of research ethics must obtain the approval of the ethics committee or consider the aspects of research ethics that can be accounted for, a letter of ethical approval please attached as an attachment document.
  • Manuscripts of articles and images submitted to the editors of the Buletin Farmatera journal will not be returned to the author.
  • The author is obliged to make a statement of approval following the rules set by the editors of the Buletin Farmatera journal and a statement of originality of the writing.
  • In the process of entering the article manuscript into the Buletin Farmatera journal, the author will be given a notification about the stages and development of the article sent starting from: pit turns out that the article has been submitted if the article has been accepted by the editor and the form is declared complete and then a selection (peer review) and review process will be carried out.
  • At the submitted stage (the manuscript is received), the author is required to fill out the author's letter of inquiry and deposit the manuscript submission fee worth Rp. 400,000,- (four hundred thousand rupiah) per article, transferred to the Bank Mandiri KCP Medan Sisingamangaraja account  with Account Number 106-00-0975643-1 in the name of Ilham Hariaji, then the  author's statement letter and proof of transfer are sent via email farmatera@umsu.ac.id
  • Manuscript submission fees will not be refunded even if the writing is annulled or rejected.
  • The manuscript will be processed further if the author's affidavit email is complete and proof of payment has been received by us.
  • The statement is feasible and completed when the peer review process has been completed and declared feasible, and the initial article review process has been completed.
  • Statement of approval of the article (accepted) when the review process has been completed and the author has made improvements to the article that has undergone changes and proof of payment has been received by the editors of the Buletin Farmatera journal, in this case, the Buletin Farmatera journal will issue a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to the author.
  • The article (published) states that the article will soon be published in the issue specified by the editors of the Buletin Farmatera journal.
  • Every article that has received a statement letter is feasible and completed, the author will be charged an investment fee for publishing article manuscripts and administration worth Rp. 400,000, - (four hundred thousand rupiah) per article, transferred to a Bank Mandiri KCP Medan Sisingamangaraja account with Account Number 106-00-0975643-1 in the name of Ilham Hariaji, furthermore, proof of transfer is sent by email farmatera@umsu.ac.id
  • The manuscript of the article will be published if all the requirements above are complete
  • The Buletin Farmatera Journal does not receive any additional money other than the amount of value listed on the Buletin Farmatera Journal page.

 

 

Writing Format

  • Articles should use good and correct Indonesian, or grammatically appropriate good and correct in English.
  • The article typed 1.15 spaces on A4 paper.
  • The left and top margins are 2.54 cm and the right and bottom are 2.54 cm.
  • The maximum number of pages is 10 pages.
  • The font Times New Roman size 12, except for the heading section, author affiliation, table title and image.
  • Each page is numbered in order starting from the title page to the last page in the lower right corner of the page as in the template.
  • The article is submitted in Microsoft Word (MS Word) format.

 

Abstain and Keywords

  • Abstracts can be written in Indonesian or English
  • The abstract is written in one paragraph with a maximum number of 200 words.
  • Abstracts are written concisely and clearly to allow the reader to understand new or important aspects without having to read the entire paper according to the format of introduction, methods, result and discussion (IMRAD).
  • Choose 3-5 keywords that can help with the indexing and sort alphabetically. Keywords are placed on the same page as the abstract

 

Text

  • Include the size in System International (SI units).
  • Don't use non-default abbreviations.
  • Fill in metric units (meters, kilograms, or litres).
  • Don't start a sentence with a numerical number; for sentences beginning with a number, write them down with letters.
  • Every reference, image and table obtained from the reference source is marked with a number in the form of a superscript according to the Vancouver style.

 

Table

  • Each table must be typed with a space of 1 with the form of arial narrow 10 writing
  • The table numbers are sequential according to the order of mention in the text.
  • Each table is assigned a short title.
  • Each column is assigned a short subtitle.
  • Place the explanation on a footnote, not on a title. Explain in the footnote all the non-standard abbreviations that are in the table.
  • The maximum number of tables is 6 pieces (every 1000 words in the article can be made 1 table)

 

Photos/ Images

  • Images must be numbered in order according to the appearance in the text.
  • Each image is labelled at the bottom of the image and the image number, author name, and pointer mark of the 'bottom' part of the image.
  • Photos of people who may be identifiable must be accompanied by written permission.
  • Images that have been published must be accompanied by written permission.
  • The maximum number of photos/images is 6 pieces.

 

 

Statistical Methods

  • Statistical methods should be described in detail in the method chapter and supported by references.
  • An unusual method, written in detail following the reference to the method.

 

Acknowledgements

  • Acknowledgements can be added if any.
  • A thank you can be given to research contributors without writing down a degree.
  • A thank you is addressed to professionals who have contributed to the preparation of the journal, including the provision of technical support, financial support and general support from an institution.

 

Reference

  • References are written according to Vancouver's writing rules.
  • Library citations are required using the Mendeley app
  • It is numbered in order according to the appearance in the article, not alphabetically.
  • Include the name of the author of a maximum of 6 people, if more, write the names of the first 6 people, then et al.
  • The number of references is minimal 20 pieces from the last 5 years' issue
  • References are sought from journals (at least 80%) and textbooks
  • References from journals that have been sent for publication but have not yet been published should be written as unpublished observations with the permission of the source.  Papers that have already been accepted and awaiting publication in a particular magazine must be written "in the press"

  • Avoid referrals in the form of personal communication except for information that is impossible to obtain from public sources
  • Include the name of the source and the date of communication. written permission and confirmation of the accuracy of the source of communication.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
