IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INDEPENDENT CURRICULUM IN KNDERGARTEN KHAIRUL UMMAH

Abstract


The Independent Curriculum is one of the Indonesian government's efforts to give educational units freedom to design learning that suits the characteristics and needs of students. Implementing the Independent Curriculum at the early childhood education (PAUD) level is a challenge in itself, the importance of a flexible approach based on child development. Khairul Ummah Kindergarten, as an early childhood education institution, seeks to implement the Merdeka Curriculum to optimize fun and effective learning for students. This research aims to explore the application of the Merdeka Curriculum at Khairul Ummah Kindergarten, as well as to assess its impact on the learning process and development of children at this age. early. The subjects in this research were educators and 30 students aged 5-6 years at Khairul Ummah Kindergarten, who were directly involved in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews with teachers, and documentation of the learning process. The research results showed that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Khairul Ummah Kindergarten was successful in increasing children's participation and motivation in learning activities. Learning based on exploration and creativity provides space for children to develop according to their interests and talents. Teachers also feel more flexible in designing activities that suit children's needs, although challenges in terms of training and adapting to the new curriculum still exist.
