THE GLOBAL LANDSCAPE OF SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING IN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: TRENDS, SHIFTS, AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS
Abstract
This study aims to map the global research landscape related to spiritual well-being in the context of religious education using bibliometric analysis. Data were collected from the Scopus database for the period 2019–2026, resulting in a final corpus of 104 documents after undergoing a rigorous screening process. Data analysis was performed using R (Bibliometrix) and VOSviewer software to extract performance metrics and visualize keyword networks. The results show a significant growth in publication volume, peaking in 2025. The United States, Iran, and Indonesia emerged as major contributors in this field. Network analysis revealed that this topic is multidisciplinary, linking religiosity to mental health aspects such as social support, anxiety, and depression. In addition, a paradigm shift was found from a theoretical focus towards clinical applications and practical interventions in education. This study concludes that spiritual well-being is a crucial element in the holistic development of students in the modern era, and provides a foundation for future researchers to explore the use of technology in spiritual interventions.
