AI-ASSISTED WRITING INSTRUCTION IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION CONTEXT
Abstract
The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced instructional practices across educational disciplines, including religious education. In Islamic education, writing skills play a critical role in developing students’ intellectual, spiritual, and moral reasoning through reflective and analytical expression. This article explores the implementation of AI-assisted writing instruction within the Islamic education context, focusing on its pedagogical relevance, effectiveness, and ethical considerations. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach supported by limited empirical data from classroom observations and document analysis, the study examines how AI tools can enhance students’ writing competence while maintaining alignment with Islamic educational values. The findings indicate that AI-assisted writing instruction supports idea development, language accuracy, and learner autonomy when integrated with teacher guidance and ethical frameworks. However, concerns related to over-reliance, originality, and value internalization remain significant. The study concludes that AI can serve as a supportive pedagogical tool rather than a replacement for teachers, provided its use is critically mediated within Islamic educational principles.
