The Influence Of Using Letter Card Media On The Beginning Reading Skills Thinking Ability At State Elementary School 066652 Medan

Abstract


This research aims to determine the effect of letter card media on the beginning reading skills of students at SD NEGERI 066652 Medan. The research used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design approach consisting of an experimental class and a control class. The sample used consisted of 41 individuals, with class IA as the experimental class containing 21 students and class IB as the control class with 20 students. The research instrument was an observation sheet for beginning reading skills validated by experts. The results of the data analysis showed a significant increase in the students' beginning reading skills after the application of the letter card media, as evidenced by the paired sample test results with a significance value of 0.000, where 0.000 < 0.05. The letter card media can enhance students' reading comprehension by facilitating the memorization of letters and spelling words, adding vocabulary, and improving language skills. In addition, letter cards provide variety and fun while learning letters and can enhance the enthusiasm and interest of students in developing early reading skills.
