Intermittent Fasting dan Aktivasi Autophagy: Implikasinya bagi Kesehatan dan Relevansinya dalam Islam

Abstract


Intermittent fasting (IF), yaitu adaptasi pola makan dengan pembatasan energi pada periode tertentu, memiliki keterkaitan yang kuat dengan pengaktifan proses autophagy,  mekanisme degradasi sel untuk menjaga homeostasis yang penting bagi kesehatan metabolik. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi hubungan antara Intermittent fasting dan autophagy, khususnya dalam konteks medis dan perspektif Islam. Data dikumpulkan melalui pencarian sistematis pada database PubMed NCBI menggunakan kata kunci “Intermittent Fasting” dan “autophagy”, menghasilkan 112 artikel. Setelah dibatasi pada publikasi tahun 2020-2024, jumlah artikel menjadi 81 artikel, kemudian disaring lebih lanjut hingga tersisa 18 artikel yang relevan dengan bidang kedokteran untuk dimasukkan dalam tinjauan ini. Tinjauan sistematis ini mengungkapkan bahwa Intermittent fasting memiliki banyak pengaruh terhadap sistem metabolisme tubuh, terutama pada sistem kardiovaskular, saraf, dan ginjal. Intermittent fasting dapat melindungi tubuh dari kerusakan dini akibat penyakit degeneratif melalui pengaktifan autophagy. Dalam perspektif Islam, Intermittent fasting memiliki kesamaan prinsip dengan puasa yang diwajibkan bagi seluruh umat muslim, seperti yang telah diperintahkan dalam Al-Qur'an. Selain mendukung kesejahteraan spiritual, puasa juga terbukti meningkatkan kesehatan fisik melalui konsumsi makanan halal dan thoyib. Kesimpulannya, Intermittent fasting tidak hanya bermanfaat dalam mendukung kesehatan metabolik melalui autophagy, tetapi juga relevan dengan praktik keagamaan yang memberikan manfaat holistik.
