Nepotisme di Segala Dimensi: Ketika Koneksi Mengalahkan Kompetensi
Abstract
Abstract: Nepotism is a form of abuse of power that remains prevalent in various sectors of life, including government, education, employment, law, and healthcare. This practice prioritizes personal relationships and kinship over competence, performance, and professionalism, thereby contradicting the principles of justice and meritocracy. This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of nepotism from social and legal perspectives and to examine its impacts on individuals and the social system. The research employs a qualitative method using a descriptive approach. Primary data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with victims of nepotism, while secondary data were collected through literature studies of laws, academic journals, and relevant theoretical frameworks. The findings indicate that nepotism causes social injustice, psychological harm to victims, a decline in public service quality, and a weakening of public trust in state institutions. Therefore, comprehensive efforts are required through strict law enforcement, bureaucratic transparency, and the strengthening of ethical and professional values to minimize nepotistic practices in Indonesia.

Abstrak: Nepotisme merupakan salah satu bentuk penyalahgunaan kekuasaan yang masih marak terjadi di berbagai sektor kehidupan, mulai dari pemerintahan, pendidikan, dunia kerja, hukum, hingga kesehatan. Praktik ini menempatkan hubungan personal dan kekerabatan di atas kompetensi, prestasi, dan profesionalisme, sehingga bertentangan dengan prinsip keadilan dan meritokrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis fenomena nepotisme dari berbgai dimensi sosial dan hukum serta mengkaji dampaknya terhadap individu dan sistem sosial. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan wawancara terhadap korban nepotisme serta studi literatur terhadap peraturan perundang-undangan dan teori hukum yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nepotisme menimbulkan dampak negatif berupa ketidakadilan sosial, penurunan kualitas pelayanan publik, melemahnya kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap institusi negara, serta kerugian psikologis bagi korban. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya komprehensif melalui penegakan hukum yang tegas, transparansi birokrasi, serta penanaman nilai etika dan profesionalisme untuk meminimalisir praktik nepotisme di Indonesia.
