The Role of Pancasila Education in Fostering Tolerance Among Students: A Literature Review
Abstract
Abstract: Pancasila Education plays a crucial role in shaping students' attitudes of tolerance amidst diversity. This study aims to analyze the role of Pancasila Education in fostering student tolerance, identifying relevant Pancasila values, and examining supporting and inhibiting factors. A qualitative method utilizing a literature review approach was employed. Data were gathered from relevant scholary journal articles published between 2021 and 2026. The data were analyzed through stages of identification, selection, categorization, analysis, and synthesis of findings from previous research. An analysis of ten articles reveals that Pancasila Education contributes to enhancing student tolerance by integrating Pancasila values into both classroom instruction and daily life. This attitude is manifested through behaviors such as respecting differences and opinions, cooperating with others, and refraining from discrimination. Supporting factors include teacher role-modeling, active learning methods, an inclusive school environment, the cultivation of positive habits, and support from families and the community. Conversely, inhibiting factors include variations in student character, time constraints, low student engagement, conflicts, and the influence of the external environment and social media. Thus, Pancasila Education not only imparts an understanding of values but also encourages their application in shaping students' attitudes of tolerance.
