The Effect of Using Digital Technology in Mathematics Learning on Increasing Students' Understanding of Concepts

Abstract


This research aims to analyze the effect of using digital technology in mathematics learning on increasing students' understanding of concepts. The research method used was an experiment with a pre-test and post-test design in the control group and experimental group. The research sample consisted of 100 class VIII students who were randomly selected from several junior high schools in city X. The experimental group used various digital tools and applications in mathematics learning, such as mathematical modeling applications, interactive video tutorials, and online learning platforms, while the control group used conventional learning methods. Data was collected through concept understanding tests given before and after the learning intervention.The research results show that students who learn using digital technology experience a significant increase in understanding of concepts compared to students who learn using conventional methods. Data analysis using the t test showed that the average post-test score for the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group (p < 0.05). In addition, students' responses to the use of digital technology in mathematics learning were also very positive, indicating higher levels of motivation and learning engagement.This research concludes that the integration of digital technology in mathematics learning can effectively improve students' conceptual understanding. The implication of these findings is the importance of educators and educational institutions to adopt and integrate digital technology in the learning process to improve student learning outcomes.
