AGRINTECH: Jurnal Agribisnis dan Agroteknologi recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies, including generative AI tools and large language models, may support certain aspects of academic research and manuscript preparation. The journal permits the responsible, ethical, and transparent use of AI tools while maintaining academic integrity, originality, research ethics, and scholarly quality. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and scientific validity of all submitted work.
1. Acceptable Uses of AI
Authors may use AI-assisted tools for limited and appropriate purposes, including:
- Improving grammar, spelling, punctuation, and readability.
- Enhancing language clarity, expression, and academic writing style.
- Formatting or organizing text without changing its scientific meaning or content.
- Assisting with coding, statistical analysis, data visualization, and other technical tasks, provided that all outputs are carefully checked and verified by the authors.
- Supporting literature exploration and other research-related activities, provided that the use is transparent, ethically appropriate, and does not replace the authors' intellectual contribution or scholarly judgment.
2. Unacceptable Uses of AI
AI tools must not be used to:
- Generate or fabricate research data, experimental results, evidence, images, or references and present them as genuine.
- Create misleading, falsified, manipulated, or otherwise deceptive scientific content.
- Replace the authors' intellectual contribution, critical interpretation, analysis, or scholarly judgment.
- Produce substantial portions of a manuscript without meaningful human oversight, verification, and accountability.
- Generate plagiarized content or misrepresent AI-generated material as verified original research.
- Disclose confidential information, personal data, or unpublished research materials through unauthorized AI platforms.
Authors must independently verify all AI-assisted outputs, including factual claims, quotations, references, calculations, statistical analyses, and conclusions. The use of AI does not exempt authors from complying with the journal's publication ethics, research integrity, copyright, privacy, and applicable legal requirements.
3. Disclosure Requirements
Authors must disclose the use of AI-assisted technologies when such use extends beyond basic spelling, grammar, punctuation, or language editing. The disclosure must be provided in a dedicated section entitled "AI Use Statement" before the References or in the Acknowledgments section, as appropriate.
The statement should identify the AI tool and, where available, its version, explain the purpose of its use, and describe the relevant tasks performed. If AI-assisted tools contribute to coding, statistical analysis, figure preparation, interpretation, or other substantive research activities, authors must clearly describe the nature and extent of that contribution.
For example:
The authors used [AI tool name and version] to improve the language and readability of this manuscript. All scientific content, research data, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions were carefully reviewed and verified by the authors, who accept full responsibility for the manuscript.
Authors should adapt this statement to accurately reflect their actual use of AI. They must not claim that all scientific content was developed independently if AI tools contributed to substantive research activities.
4. Authorship
AI tools and large language models, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and similar systems, do not meet the criteria for authorship and must not be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is reserved for human contributors who meet the journal's authorship criteria and can take responsibility for the work.
Authors are accountable for all content submitted for publication, including material generated, revised, or assisted by AI tools. AI tools must not be cited as substitutes for identifiable human authors or as independent authorities for unverified claims.
5. Policy for Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, peer-review reports, and editorial correspondence. They must not upload confidential or unpublished manuscript content to public or unauthorized AI tools.
AI tools must not replace the independent scholarly judgment of editors or reviewers when assessing manuscripts or making editorial recommendations. Editors and reviewers remain responsible for the fairness, confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of their work. The editorial team may request additional information from authors concerning the use of AI during manuscript preparation or research.
6. Editorial Actions and Compliance
Failure to disclose material AI use, the submission of AI-generated fabricated or plagiarized content, or other unethical uses of AI may result in rejection of the manuscript, a request for correction, withdrawal of an accepted manuscript, retraction of a published article, or other appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
All manuscripts are evaluated according to their scholarly quality, originality, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, and compliance with publication ethics requirements. The use of AI does not guarantee acceptance or provide an advantage in the editorial decision-making process.
7. Language and Manuscript Quality
Manuscripts submitted to AGRINTECH: Jurnal Agribisnis dan Agroteknologi must be written in clear, grammatically correct, coherent, and academically appropriate language. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the language accurately communicates the research objectives, methods, findings, and conclusions.
Manuscripts with language deficiencies that impede peer review or comprehension may be returned to the authors for language revision before further consideration. Authors are encouraged to have their manuscripts reviewed by a qualified language editor or professional editing service when necessary. Spelling and grammar checking software is permitted to improve language quality, subject to the journal's requirements for responsible AI use and disclosure.
8. Commitment to Publication Ethics
AGRINTECH: Jurnal Agribisnis dan Agroteknologi is committed to promoting the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of artificial intelligence in scholarly publishing. This policy is intended to protect research integrity, maintain trust in academic publications, and ensure that human authors retain full responsibility for the work they submit and publish.
