Optimizing Muhadharah Activities to Enhance Leadership, Self-Confidence, and Understanding of Islamic Teachings at PP. KHA. Wahid Hasyim Bangil
Abstract
This study examines how the muhadharah (public-speaking/da’wah training) program is planned, implemented, and contributes to strengthening santri leadership spirit, self-confidence, and understanding of Islamic teachings at Pondok Pesantren KHA. Wahid Hasyim Bangil. A qualitative case-study approach was used, with the researcher as the primary instrument. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with seven categories of informants (the caretaker, head of the pesantren, muhadharah supervisors, administrators, room leaders, santri, and alumni), and documentation over approximately two months, then analyzed using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive model and validated through source and technique triangulation. Findings show that planning covers six stages: program coordination, scheduling, task distribution, material preparation, facility preparation, and pre-performance coaching. Implementation follows an actuating cycle of activity execution, material delivery, and ongoing coaching. The program contributes concretely to leadership growth, stronger self-confidence, and deeper understanding of Islamic teachings, together with broader improvements in discipline, cooperation, and everyday conduct that persist after santri graduate. Muhadharah thus functions as an integrated, intentionally managed character-education cycle rather than a routine ceremonial activity.
