Correction, Retraction, and Withdrawal Policy
Ar-Rasyid: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal follows recognized publication ethics standards and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and manuscript withdrawals.
This policy applies to manuscripts submitted for publication and articles that have already been published in the journal.
1. Correction
Corrections may be issued when errors are identified in a published article that require amendment or clarification but do not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions. Such errors may include factual inaccuracies, author information errors, incorrect references, and mistakes in tables, figures, or other published content.
Requests for corrections may be submitted by authors, readers, or other relevant parties to the editorial team. The Editor-in-Chief will evaluate the reported error and may consult the authors or independent experts when necessary.
If a correction is approved, the journal will publish a formal correction notice linked to the original article. The notice will clearly identify the error and explain the correction. The original article will remain accessible, with appropriate links or annotations to maintain transparency and traceability.
If an identified error substantially undermines the reliability of an article, the editorial team will consider whether a correction is sufficient or whether an expression of concern or retraction is necessary.
2. Retraction
Ar-Rasyid: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record. A published article may be retracted if, following a thorough assessment of the available evidence, one or more of the following conditions are identified:
-
There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable because of research misconduct, including data fabrication, data falsification, or image manipulation, or because of serious unintentional errors, such as significant miscalculations or experimental errors.
-
The article has been published elsewhere without appropriate citation, permission, or editorial justification, constituting redundant or duplicate publication.
-
The article contains plagiarism or substantial unattributed content derived from published or unpublished works.
-
The research violates accepted ethical standards, including the absence of required ethical approval, lack of informed consent where applicable, or other serious forms of unethical research conduct.
-
The publication involves serious authorship misconduct, undisclosed conflicts of interest that materially compromise the integrity of the research, or manipulation of the peer-review process.
-
Other serious circumstances establish that the published article is unreliable or that its publication violates fundamental principles of research and publication ethics.
Retraction will be considered in accordance with the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Retraction Procedure
The editorial process for retraction follows these steps:
-
Reporting concerns: Concerns regarding a published article may be raised by readers, reviewers, editors, authors, institutions, or other relevant stakeholders.
-
Preliminary assessment: The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial assessment to determine whether the concerns warrant further investigation.
-
Investigation: Where appropriate, the editorial team investigates the matter in accordance with COPE guidance and may request relevant documentation or supporting evidence.
-
Author response: The corresponding author will be invited to provide an explanation and supporting evidence within a reasonable, specified timeframe. Other authors may also be contacted when necessary.
-
Expert consultation: The editorial board may consult independent experts or the authors' affiliated institutions if additional assessment is required.
-
Editorial decision: Based on the available evidence, the Editor-in-Chief determines whether a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction is the most appropriate action.
-
Publication of the notice: If retraction is warranted, the journal will publish a formal retraction notice explaining the reasons for the decision and linking it to the original article.
Retraction Notice and Article Accessibility
A retraction notice will be clearly identified, publicly accessible, and linked to the original article. The notice will explain the reasons for retraction to the extent supported by the available evidence.
The original article will generally remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as Retracted on every page or in the article's electronic presentation, where technically feasible. The retraction notice and the original article will be linked to ensure that readers are aware of the article's status.
Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly literature and protect the integrity of academic communication, rather than to punish authors.
3. Expression of Concern
An expression of concern may be published when credible issues have been raised about a published article but the available evidence is insufficient to reach a final decision, or when an investigation has been delayed or remains unresolved.
The Editor-in-Chief will assess the circumstances and determine whether an expression of concern is necessary to inform readers of a potentially significant issue.
The notice will identify the article concerned and explain the nature of the issue to the extent that confidentiality and fairness permit. Following further investigation, the journal may update the notice, publish a correction, or retract the article, as appropriate.
4. Withdrawal of Manuscripts
A manuscript may be withdrawn by its authors only under appropriate circumstances and with the approval of the Editor-in-Chief. Withdrawal requests must be submitted formally and must include a clear explanation of the reasons for withdrawal.
4.1 Before Peer Review
Authors may request withdrawal before the manuscript is assigned to peer reviewers. The corresponding author must submit a written request explaining the reasons for withdrawal.
Once the request has been approved by the editorial team, the manuscript will be withdrawn from the journal's editorial system in accordance with the applicable procedures.
4.2 During Peer Review
Authors wishing to withdraw a manuscript undergoing peer review must submit a formal written request signed by the corresponding author, explaining the reasons for withdrawal.
The editorial office will evaluate the request and notify the author of its decision. Authors must not submit the same manuscript to another journal while the withdrawal request remains pending. Submission elsewhere may proceed only after the withdrawal has been formally approved and the editorial process has been closed.
4.3 After Acceptance but Before Publication
Withdrawal of an accepted manuscript is permitted only under exceptional circumstances, including:
-
The discovery of a major error that materially affects the validity of the research.
-
The identification of significant ethical concerns before publication.
-
Legal or copyright issues that prevent publication.
-
Other compelling reasons accepted by the Editor-in-Chief.
Because accepted manuscripts have already undergone editorial evaluation, peer review, and potentially production, withdrawal at this stage is strongly discouraged. The Editor-in-Chief will assess the circumstances and determine the appropriate action.
4.4 After Publication
Once an article has been formally published, it cannot be withdrawn through the regular manuscript withdrawal procedure. If significant problems are identified after publication, the journal will assess the case and may issue a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.
This procedure ensures that the published scholarly record remains transparent and traceable.
4.5 Withdrawal Procedure
Authors requesting manuscript withdrawal must:
-
Submit a formal written request to the editorial office.
-
Provide a clear explanation of the reasons for withdrawal.
-
Obtain the written agreement of all co-authors when the manuscript has entered peer review or has been accepted for publication.
-
Await written confirmation of the Editor-in-Chief's decision before treating the manuscript as withdrawn.
The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to approve or reject withdrawal requests based on the stage of the editorial process, the reasons provided, and applicable publication ethics requirements.
The journal may investigate suspected duplicate submissions or other ethical violations identified during the withdrawal process.
5. Ethical Compliance
Ar-Rasyid: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam adheres to internationally recognized publication ethics standards and follows the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) concerning corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, and other publication-related ethical issues.
All cases will be handled fairly, objectively, and transparently, with due consideration for the rights of authors, readers, reviewers, and other parties involved. The journal will protect confidential information where appropriate and provide relevant parties with a reasonable opportunity to respond to allegations or concerns.
The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team are responsible for determining the appropriate action based on the evidence available and the seriousness of the issue.
This policy aims to safeguard the integrity of scholarly publications, maintain public trust in academic research, and promote responsible scholarly publishing practices.
