Ius Scientia: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum is an open-access scholarly journal that employs a rigorous peer-review process conducted by an Editorial Board and reviewers with expertise in various fields of law. The journal is published by the Master of Law Study Program, Graduate School, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, through an academic publishing platform based on the Open Journal Systems (OJS). The journal was first published in September 2026 as a scholarly platform for the development, dissemination, and exchange of ideas and research findings in the field of legal studies.

Ius Scientia: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum aims to publish high-quality research articles and conceptual studies that contribute to the advancement of legal scholarship. The journal covers a broad range of legal disciplines, including Criminal Law, Civil Law, Administrative Law, Business Law, Constitutional Law, International Law, Islamic Law, Customary Law, as well as contemporary legal issues emerging in society. The journal focuses on scholarly works grounded in legal analysis and making relevant academic contributions to the development of legal theories, doctrines, policies, and practices. The journal is published in one volume per year with two issues, released in March and September.

Ius Scientia: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum welcomes scholarly manuscripts from authors both within and outside Indonesia. All submitted manuscripts must comply with the journal's prescribed template and author guidelines, constitute original scholarly work, and must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication in another journal or scholarly publication. Each manuscript is subject to a similarity check using Turnitin, with a maximum similarity threshold of 15%, as part of the journal's commitment to maintaining academic integrity and publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet the requirements concerning originality, formatting guidelines, and the journal's technical standards may be returned to the authors or rejected by the Editorial Board before entering the peer-review stage.

All manuscript submissions are conducted online through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform of Ius Scientia: Jurnal Ilmu Hukum. Manuscripts that satisfy the administrative requirements and meet the relevant scholarly standards will proceed through the journal's established editorial and peer-review processes. A Letter of Acceptance (LoA) is issued by the Editor after a manuscript has fulfilled all applicable requirements and has received a formal decision for acceptance and publication.
